Biography

Currently working on her M.S. in Engineering Design Innovation at Northwestern University, after completion of her Bachelor of Fine Arts in Industrial Design as a STEM-designated major and a Certificate in Design Innovation at The University of Illinois at Urbana - Champaign. Madeline Farace’s design practice is influenced by her love of putting a smile on one's face. Whether it’s her industrial design, graphic design, or illustration - storytelling is at the forefront.
As a designer, Madeline is passionate about human centered design. Madeline involves the human perspective and emotion in all her problem-solving processes. Her innate ability to put herself in someone else’s shoes is what motivates her to design in this manner. She is constantly looking at things and wondering how she can make them better - whether that means more inclusive, more sustainable, or more balanced between form and function.
Madeline’s proven record of academic accomplishments was recognized on the Dean’s List four times during her years at the School of Art and Design. It also earned her the title of James Scholar through the Honors Program. In addition to her own academics, Madeline served as a Teaching Assistant for Arts at Illinois (FAA 101), where she led weekly lectures and discussions focused on resume building, executive functioning, and campus life. Madeline was a member of the Industrial Designers Society of America: a student-led organization fostering young designers through professional masterclasses. She served as a College of Fine and Applied Arts Ambassador, where Madeline engaged with prospective students, spoke on panels, and led tours at the Art and Design building.
