Project Brief: Pick a product from a well known company to improve, include, or provide access to more people.
Company & Product chosen: The Rubik's Cube from Rubik's Brand ltd (Spin Master)
Re-design Statement: Creating a more inclusive cube for all to play with, this cube features a textile experience through swapping the colors with shapes.
3D Model Process:

Sketching and Low-Fidelity Model: The low fidelity model process was messy yet effective. After Ideating the model includes cardboard shapes glued onto a paper box with pencil lines indicating that this box "can twist and turn" similar to the Rubik's Cube. Orthographic sketches of the first ideation shows the initial thought process of the Rubik's Cube re-design.
Laser Cutter: After sketching I turned to SolidWorks and Adobe Illustrator to create vector files of the protruding shapes. Sending the files to a Laser Cutter to be used for the next model. The material: 1/8in basswood.
Final Model: Once the shapes were cut they were then placed in their respective squares. Then finally painted with an acrylic black paint for the final 3d model.
